Exact application depends on the building official and scope. Clarify early if you planned only a partial replacement.
- What is a Miami-Dade NOA?
- A Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) shows a window or door system passed required testing for use in Miami-Dade’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Always match the NOA to the exact configuration being installed — not just a brand name.

- What is the difference between impact doors and standard doors?
- Impact doors use reinforced frames and laminated impact-resistant glass designed for wind-borne debris testing. Standard doors are not rated for that storm debris path and may not meet South Florida opening-protection requirements where impact or approved shutters are required.
- What is the difference between hurricane-rated glass and impact glass?
- People often use the terms interchangeably. “Impact glass” usually means laminated glass designed to stay in the opening after impact. For South Florida compliance, the entire unit — frame, glass, and hardware — must match a tested, approved configuration for the required wind pressures.
- Do you install impact sliding glass doors?

- What's the difference between PVB and SGP?
- PVB (polyvinyl butyral) and SGP (SentryGlas Plus) are interlayers used in laminated impact glass. SGP is generally stronger and stiffer after breakage and often costs more than PVB.
- What is Low-E glass?
- Low-E (low-emissivity) glass has a thin coating that reflects heat while letting light through, which can improve comfort and reduce UV fading. Low-E is not the same as impact rating — many impact packages include Low-E as a separate feature.
